My Fiance and I are getting wedding rings made shortly and we have both found designs we like that have quite a lot of diamonds in them. Unfortunately our budget doesn’t stretch to this – can anyone recommend a white gem stone that replicates the fire and brilliance of a diamond (or as near as poss) we’d rather not have coloured stones. Any help appreciated! Many women prefer Moissanite as a less expensive alternative to diamonds in a wedding ring. Moissanite actually has more fire and brilliance than a diamond, and it’s hardness on the Mohs scale is very close to that of diamond. You will sacrifice a little in colour because Moissanite has a slight yellow cast. A round cut Moissanite has the cleanest colour compared to fancy cuts such as pear, oval and princess. In daylight the shower of brilliance and scintillation that a Moissanite produces is truly impressive. In comparison, a CZ looks very dead and dull. Moissanite is a natural mineral that was discovered in trace elements around the edge of the Canyon Diablo Meteorite Crater in Arizona. The trace elements are used to grow large Moissanite crystals under extremely high heat and pressure laboratory conditions. So, it is a man made stone derived from a natural mineral.

Cubic Zirconium is a copy of a diamond.

You can get a CZ… Cubic Zirconia. No one would know but you and your fiancee. Then once you have the $$$, you can switch out the stones with diamonds…

moissanite is a faux diamond that is almost identical to the naked eye. It takes a Jeweler to determine that moissanite is not an actual diamond.

White sapphires are beautiful too, but not as sparkly.

the closest one is cubic zirconia, if you get in from an arabic country lebanon or EAE they look better than the ones made in the US. I got mine from lebanon and when I went to Zales to get the ring sized because it was to big the guy insisted on putting it in the machine to check if it was real lol.

you can`t beat diamonds, there is no really good substitute, why don`t you go for 3 coloured gold entwined, it`s unusual and less expensive than diamonds.

Just by looking nobody can tell the difference between a diamond & a good CZ. The problem is they are more brittle than diamonds. If you wear the ring all the time and hit the stone on a hard surface, it is very possible to crack one.

Moissinites are excellent stones too but they are not pure white, they are yellowish.
